Tennis commentator Jon Wertheim suggested that this animosity might be linked to Sinner’s relationship with Anna Kalinskaya, who previously dated Kyrgios. Kyrgios’s criticisms of Sinner intensified following Sinner’s doping violation, with Kyrgios advocating for harsher penalties. This situation escalated when Kyrgios made comments on social media about Cruz Hewitt, son of tennis legend Lleyton Hewitt, criticizing the young player’s photo with Sinner.
