A few years ago, Guillem Farres was a relatively unknown Spanish motocross rider competing in the FIM Motocross World Championship (MXGP) and the German Championship. But in 2022, Farres was given a golden opportunity to chase his dreams in the United States when the Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing team invited him to race in select rounds of the Pro Motocross Championship. His performance at Budds Creek and Ironman, along with his strong showing at the FIM Motocross of Nations, led to a contract for the 2023 season.
Farres’ 2023 season kicked off with impressive results, earning two top-10 overall finishes in the first two rounds. However, his momentum was abruptly halted when he suffered a season-ending injury in Colorado after a first-turn pile-up. This left many questioning his future in U.S. motocross.
In 2024, the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna team, led by Nate Ramsey, took a chance on Farres, offering him a full-season ride, including his first opportunity to race Supercross. The transition wasn’t easy for Farres, as he explained, “It was a whole new thing. Just learning the new techniques, like the seat bounce, definitely made it a challenge.” Despite the difficulties, Farres adapted and showed promising results with finishes of eighth and ninth in his first two Supercross mains.
Unfortunately, Farres’ 2024 season was cut short after a practice crash left him with a broken femur, forcing him to sit out the rest of the year. Reflecting on his brief Supercross stint, Farres shared how the experience had improved his skills on the bike, saying, “It definitely helped my ability on the bike… especially with timing and precision. Even my confidence and feel of the bike is way better.”
After his injury and recovery, Farres found himself at a crossroads. His initial goal was to race outdoors after recovering, but complications with his leg led to multiple surgeries. Facing uncertainty in the U.S. and lacking motivation after years of injuries and being away from family, Farres made the decision to return to Europe. In a turn of fate, he caught the attention of the Triumph Racing team, who offered him a spot in the 2025 MX2 series aboard the new Triumph TF 250-X.
Farres expressed excitement about the new opportunity, noting how quickly he adapted to the Triumph bike. “I felt super comfortable right after getting on the bike,” he said. With the first round set for Argentina in March, Farres is eager to start fresh. “It’s a long season, 22 races, so I’ll take it easy and see where we belong. But, yeah, I think all will be good,” he said confidently.
As he gears up for the 2025 MXGP season, Farres’ journey demonstrates resilience and determination. Though he faced setbacks in the U.S., his move to the Triumph Racing team signals a new chapter in his career. With his renewed motivation and a promising new ride, Farres is ready to showcase his talent on the world stage.
