Nick Kyrgios Admits Partying Hard Till he Blacks Out

Nick Kyrgios Reflects on His Partying Past and Growing Maturity Ahead of Australian Open

Nick Kyrgios has opened up about his past partying habits, admitting that he once partied so hard that he would black out, but he insists that this is no longer the case. Speaking candidly in an interview with Wide World of Sports’ The Hundred, the 29-year-old Australian revealed that his partying days have slowed down significantly as he focuses on his career and personal growth.

When asked about the party culture in Australia, Kyrgios jokingly suggested that a significant portion of Australians might have woken up after a night out not knowing where they were, claiming, “Oh, that’s got to be like 75%.” However, the conversation soon turned personal when the interviewer asked if Kyrgios himself had experienced blacking out during a night of partying.

Kyrgios didn’t shy away from the question, admitting that while such incidents used to happen “a fair bit” during his career, they are no longer a part of his lifestyle. “No, not this year, no. Okay, that used to happen a fair bit throughout my career,” he acknowledged. The 29-year-old’s response suggests a shift in his approach to life, with a more focused mindset ahead of his comeback at the Australian Open.

For years, Kyrgios has been known for his boisterous personality and his open love for a good time, which often included partying into the early hours of the morning. But now, it seems that he is making an effort to mature and prioritize his professional career, especially with the upcoming challenges on the tennis court.

In addition to his own reflections, Kyrgios’ partying habits have also made headlines in relation to his relationship with fellow Australian tennis star Thanasi Kokkinakis. The two, known as the “Special K’s,” formed a strong bond and went on to win the 2022 Australian Open men’s doubles title together. However, after their Grand Slam triumph, Kokkinakis was left fuming when Kyrgios chose to take an early flight home, skipping out on the celebratory post-win party.

“I remember a fun night afterwards that he (Nick) wasn’t a part of because he took an early flight the next morning, which I’m still p—– off with him about! So I had to do it for the both of us,” Kokkinakis shared with Express Sport last month, revealing that he was still upset about Kyrgios’ absence.

While Kokkinakis clearly had his frustrations, it’s clear that Kyrgios is prioritizing his future. With a more mature mindset and a clearer focus, the 29-year-old is looking to make a fresh start in 2025, both on and off the court. As Kyrgios prepares for his return to Grand Slam action, it appears that his partying days are in the past, and he’s committed to finding balance in both his personal and professional life.
