Miami QB Cam Ward Issues Bold Warning to NFL Teams Ahead of April’s Draft

Miami quarterback Cam Ward has made it clear to NFL teams: if they choose not to draft him in April’s draft, they might regret it. In a recent statement that’s turned heads, the 22-year-old Ward issued a warning to any team that passes on him, delivering a message that blends confidence with determination.

When asked about his decision to sit out the second half of the Pop Tarts Bowl, Ward was unapologetic and direct. “Ok, you’re either going to draft me or you’re not,” Ward said. “If you don’t draft me, that’s your fault. You’ve got to remember you’re the same team that’s got to play me for the rest of my career, and I’ll remember that.”

His words send a clear message: Ward isn’t backing down from the spotlight and is fully aware of his potential impact on the league. This bold declaration comes as Ward prepares for the 2024 NFL Draft, where he’s expected to be one of the top quarterbacks taken. The decision to sit out the second half of the Pop Tarts Bowl, however, has raised questions, particularly about his commitment to his team. But according to Ward, the move was planned in advance with the coaching staff and was in the best interest of both him and the program.

“I just think we all got what we needed out of it,” Ward explained. “They seen things that they think they need to work on … for this season coming up. And they also knew, you know, what I had on the line. We feel like we’re doing what’s best for the program and myself.”

Despite sitting out the second half, Ward’s performances throughout the season have been impressive and left NFL scouts paying close attention. The 6-foot-2, 223-pound signal caller threw for 4,313 yards in the regular season, ranking second in the FBS. He also recorded 39 touchdown passes and just 7 interceptions, completing 67.2% of his passes in 13 games. Additionally, Ward showcased his versatility by rushing for four touchdowns, proving he’s capable of making plays with his legs as well as his arm.

Ward’s numbers speak for themselves, but it’s his fiery attitude and confidence that might set him apart in the upcoming draft. His statement about remembering which teams pass on him has only added fuel to the growing conversation surrounding his draft stock.

As the NFL draft approaches, Ward’s warning is clear: any team that passes on him will have to live with that decision for years to come. Whether that chip on his shoulder motivates him to even greater heights or fuels his success in the league remains to be seen, but one thing is for certain: Cam Ward is ready to make an impact, no matter who takes a chance on him.
