It’s nice,’ she said. ‘Sorry, you guys know I’m emotional!’ She continued: ‘I was literally sitting in my bed yesterday and they were sending me all the reviews. I could not believe it. I was crying, me and my girlfriend of 20 years were sitting there and she was trying to film me.

‘I was like, “Oh my God.” You work hard your whole life and you wonder if anybody notices in a sense, on that level, to be in that conversation. You have dreams when you’re a little girl of being [at the Oscars], you know what I mean?’

Jennifer, who has yet to be nominated for an Academy Award, said of the recent predictions: ‘Just to talk about it is amazing. And for people to be saying that is nice.’

In Hustlers, Jennifer plays Ramona Vega, a veteran stripper who mentors a new dancer and helps set up her scam to hustle dozens of wealthy men out of their money. Discussing her role, J Lo explained: ‘I’m used to being on stage in sexy costumes, but I have three layers of tights and fishnets and a bodysuit.

‘It was a brand-new feeling to come out practically naked, in front of all those men — 300 extras hooting and hollering — and dance for money.  ‘There’s something liberating and empowering about it, but you’re really out there, physically, emotionally and psychologically.’

Jennifer Lopez began her acting career in 1991 with a role in the sketch series, In Living Color, before becoming one of the highest-paid Latin actresses in Hollywood, taking on roles like Selena, Anaconda and Out of Sight.
