Haiden Deegan, the rising star in the world of supercross, has made a significant change in his training approach, announcing that he has parted ways with Christian Craig and returned to working with former GP rider Gareth Swanepoel. Deegan, a part of the Star Racing Yamaha team, is determined to reclaim the speed and dominance that led him to success and is focusing on securing the title in the West Coast Supercross series.
Deegan shared his decision during an interview with Lewis Phillips, where he explained that while he had tried working with Craig, he felt the approach wasn’t a perfect fit for him. He expressed no ill will toward Craig but emphasized that his previous training routine with Swanepoel had given him the results he desired. “I’m back working with Swanie. Back to my old program. I tried something and, no hate to anybody, I just didn’t feel like it fit me as good as it should and that’s kind of what the team thought. So back training with Swanie and I am feeling good,” said Deegan.
The decision to return to Swanepoel’s program comes after Deegan’s recognition that a change was necessary to regain his peak performance. Deegan’s relentless desire to win and dominate was evident in his commitment to putting in the hard work necessary to get back to his winning ways. “I had two weeks to really work hard and I want to win really bad. It’s pretty much what I told Swanie I will do anything at this point to get back to where I was, winning and dominant,” he continued.
In the world of supercross, where every small detail can make a massive difference in performance, it’s clear that Deegan is determined to make the necessary adjustments to return to the top. His acknowledgment of the importance of a tailored training program that aligns with his personal needs speaks to his maturity as an athlete. Deegan’s ability to evaluate what’s working and what’s not shows a level of self-awareness that many athletes take years to develop.
The return to Swanepoel’s training program marks a fresh chapter in Deegan’s career as he looks to build on his past successes and challenge for the coveted West Coast Supercross title. Swanepoel, known for his methodical and effective approach to training, will likely play a crucial role in Deegan’s efforts to refine his skills and bring out his best performances.
With a renewed focus, a proven trainer in his corner, and an unyielding desire to succeed, Haiden Deegan is setting himself up for a strong and competitive finish to the season. The motocross world will be watching closely as Deegan works tirelessly to regain his dominance on the track.
