FC Barcelona has officially confirmed the signing of Victor Barbera from Club Brugge, as announced in a press release sent out on Tuesday evening.
The agreement sees the 20-year-old forward return to Barcelona on a two-year contract, with an option for three additional years. Barbera will be joining the club’s reserve team, Barca Atletic.
Having successfully completed his medical examinations at both the Hospital de Barcelona and the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper, Barbera is set to integrate with his new teammates under the guidance of coach Albert Sanchez.
A native of Barcelona, Barbera began his football journey at Sant Gabriel before joining the youth ranks of Damm in 2019. His impressive performance at La Masia, where he was the top scorer in the U18 Catalan league, earned him a promotion to Barca Atletic. In June of the previous year, Barbera moved to Club Brugge on a free transfer, signing a contract until 2027.
Now, Barbera returns to his roots with Barcelona, aiming to follow in the footsteps of Pau Victor, who also made a significant impact after joining Barca Atletic on loan and later securing a permanent move.
As Barcelona looks to the future, Barbera’s return is seen as a strategic move, potentially setting the stage for his advancement to the first team, especially as Robert Lewandowski’s contract nears its end in mid-2026.
