Anstie Slams McAdoo After Red Flag Incident, Calls Move "Dirty and Selfish"

In the aftermath of the dramatic 250SX Main Event at the 2025 Detroit Supercross, Max Anstie has publicly slammed Cameron McAdoo for his role in causing the race’s red flag incident, despite McAdoo’s apology hours earlier. The race, which had been under Anstie’s control with a commanding seven-second lead over Levi Kitchen, took a dramatic turn when McAdoo crashed late in the race, leading to the stoppage.

The timing of McAdoo’s crash was critical—just as Anstie seemed poised to secure the victory, the red flag reset the field and erased the significant gap he had worked hard to build. The race was restarted in a staggered formation, setting up a two-lap sprint for the finish. It was in this fresh start that Kitchen seized the opportunity, passing Anstie to claim the win in a tense final stretch.

Anstie, visibly frustrated by the way the race played out, had initially maintained a positive and professional attitude after the event. He acknowledged the tough nature of racing and vowed to move forward with confidence. However, just hours after receiving a direct apology from McAdoo for causing the red flag, Anstie took to social media, slamming the Kawasaki rider’s actions as a “dirty move and selfish.”

In his statement, Anstie expressed how deeply the incident had affected him. “I had that race in the bag,” Anstie said. “To have my lead taken away like that is frustrating enough, but what really gets to me is the timing of it. McAdoo knew the consequences of his crash—it wasn’t just a racing incident. It was a dirty move, and if he hadn’t been so careless, something even worse could have happened out there.”

Anstie’s comments reveal the depth of his frustration. The British rider seemed to believe that McAdoo’s crash was avoidable, and that its timing intentionally disrupted his chances of victory. The veteran rider also questioned McAdoo’s judgment, stating that the crash could have led to more than just a race outcome change—there could have been safety concerns for both riders involved.

Anstie’s anger was not just about the loss of a victory, but about what he perceived as a lack of consideration for the other riders on the track. While McAdoo had apologized for the incident, Anstie’s emotions were raw, and the loss of his race lead seemed to have been the tipping point for the normally composed rider.

The tensions between the two riders are now at an all-time high, and it remains to be seen how their rivalry will develop throughout the rest of the season. While Anstie’s frustration was clear, it also highlighted the intense pressure and high stakes of Supercross racing, where every move can be the difference between victory and defeat.
