Kendrick Lamar is reportedly planning to perform his explosive diss track Not Like Us during the upcoming Super Bowl halftime show, despite an ongoing lawsuit from fellow rapper Drake. The track, which gained massive attention last year, is at the center of a heated legal battle between the two artists.
The Feud Between Kendrick and Drake
The tension between Kendrick Lamar and Drake has been brewing for years, but it reached new heights when Lamar released Not Like Us—a hard-hitting diss track that directly attacks the Canadian rapper. The song accuses Drake of being a “colonizer” and even implies that he has inappropriate relationships with minors, an allegation that sparked major controversy.
The track quickly went viral, dominating social media and streaming platforms. However, its success also triggered a strong response from Drake, who filed a defamation lawsuit against Universal Music Group (UMG), Kendrick’s record label.
Drake’s Lawsuit Against UMG
In his lawsuit, Drake alleges that UMG deliberately spread a “false and malicious narrative” about him for financial gain. The rapper claims the record label knew Not Like Us would contain damaging lyrics but still allowed it to be widely distributed.
Furthermore, Drake accuses UMG of artificially boosting the song’s streaming numbers by approximately 30 million using AI technology. According to the lawsuit, this was done to maximize profits, even at the expense of damaging his reputation.
Drake’s legal team also pointed to Kendrick’s upcoming Super Bowl halftime performance, arguing that UMG orchestrated the opportunity to ensure the song was performed on one of the world’s biggest stages.
UMG Responds to the Allegations
UMG has strongly denied any wrongdoing, calling Drake’s accusations both “untrue” and “illogical.” The label dismissed the idea that it would sabotage one of its own artists, especially someone as commercially successful as Drake.
“Not only are these claims untrue, but the notion that we would seek to harm the reputation of any artist—let alone Drake—is illogical,” UMG stated.
Despite the ongoing legal battle, Kendrick Lamar appears unfazed. Reports suggest that he intends to go forward with performing Not Like Us at the Super Bowl, making it one of the most anticipated moments of the event.
A Super Bowl Performance to Remember
If Kendrick follows through with his plans, the Super Bowl halftime show could become one of the most talked-about performances in recent history. Given the track’s controversial nature and the legal battle surrounding it, this performance could escalate the already intense feud between the two rap giants.
With millions watching worldwide, Kendrick’s performance of Not Like Us will not just be entertainment—it will be a statement. Whether Drake will respond remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: this hip-hop battle is far from over.
