On Monday, reports surfaced that the victim, an 18-year-old Temple University student named Tyler Sabapathy, was on life support at Jefferson Hospital. Sadly, on Tuesday night, Sabapathy succumbed to his injuries.
Temple University President John Fry released a heartfelt statement expressing the deep sorrow felt by the entire Temple community.
“The loss of a promising 18-year-old man like Tyler is both tragic and traumatic,” Fry said. “There are no words that can make sense of it, and the entire Temple community mourns his passing. Our hearts go out to Tyler’s family, friends, classmates, and all who knew and loved him.”
Sabapathy was a freshman majoring in exercise and sport science and a member of Temple’s club gymnastics team. He was known for his passion for sports and his dedication to his studies. His sudden passing has left his friends, teammates, and the Temple community devastated.
